Fast Weight Loss That Matters

Excessive weight in a person could be the result of heredity or genetic disorder (which is beyond the person's control); it may have resulted from the person’s food habits, life style, the nature of work and activities the person routinely engages in, etc. Except in cases of genetic disorders or heredity, generally you gain weight over a long period of time and with reasonable awareness towards your well-being there is generally no reason for you to look for ways to achieve fast weight loss.

Excess weight condition matters; so weight loss also matters. Why should fast weight loss matter? And for whom does the fast rate matter?

There are two categories of people who look for fast weight loss methods - those who are very obese and have recently become conscious of danger to their health and those who are taken in by those very “alluring but misleading” advertisements showing that you could become super models by following the slimming courses for two or three weeks.

Health experts agree that an average person can lose about 1 to 2 pounds of weight per week by correct eating habits and reasonable exercises. This is a safe and healthy amount to lose; you could achieve long lasting results in this way. By adopting additional safe methods such as use of Proactol, a fat binder OTC product, you may be able to lose safely about 2 to 3 pounds per week; that itself would be high weight loss rate.

I know many would be keen on losing weight at much higher rate - something like 10 to 15 pounds a week. However take a moment to think. Do you gain weight at anything like 10 to 15 pounds a week steadily? You don't because your body cannot. And if your body cannot add weight at that rate, it will not be able to lose at that rate either without ill effects.

By going on a starvation diet to lose weight at an unrealistic rate, all that you manage to lose is your muscles, body fluids - water - , your sleep and money, of course! Achieving fast weight loss is violating the natural rhythm of your body. Quite often it is seen that such drastic results of weight loss achieved are equally rapidly negated.

As I said earlier, there are those cases of extreme obesity whose need for faster weight loss may be reasonable because of health concerns. Bariatric surgery may be the answer to the prayer of these obese patients. In these weight loss surgery techniques, called gastric bypass and laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding ("Lap Band"), the capacity of the stomach is surgically reduced or limited. This limits the quantity of food the patient is able to eat. This automatically restricts the tendency of the body to have a craving for food and also restricts weight gain. Most of the persons are able to return to their normal work after a few weeks.

Lower Back Pain - Causes and Cures

Nearly 80% of people have back pain, including lower back pain, at some point or another during their life. Since this is a problem which affects nearly everyone, it is important to know what the causes of lower back pain are. You also need to know how to control these factors to keep severe lower back pain to a minimum.

Causes of Lower Back Pain

As we age, we lose a lot of our body’s natural muscle tone and elasticity. As well, bone strength generally decreases as we get older. Our spinal discs lose flexibility due to the loss of fluid. This means that they do a less effective job of protecting the vertebrae. Simply growing older can be a cause of lower back pain.

A strain, sprain or spasm in your muscles or ligaments can result in the rupture of a spinal disc. This leads to increased pressure on your spinal cord nerves. Your back will let you know about this through neural signs, more commonly known as pain. What are the causes of these strains, sprains and spasms? Frequently, this type of injury is caused by attempting to lift heavy objects or overstretching the muscles.

Lower back pain can also be caused by diseases like osteoporosis and arthritis. There are also causes including viral infections, joint or disc irritation and spinal abnormalities.

Lower back pain can also be caused by various physical conditions. Being out of shape or overweight, having poor posture, experiencing stress and even being pregnant are all examples of this. Hip pain and lower back pain sometimes come as a distressing package deal. Another cause of lower back pain can be scar tissue from old injuries - this can also lead to further, more critical injuries.

When to Worry About Lower Back Pain

You should take your lower back pain seriously if it comes along with other symptoms. Watch out for weakness in the muscles, particularly in the legs, loss of bowel or bladder control, fever or coughing. If you experience any of these symptoms along with your lower back pain, see your doctor right away. They may indicate a pinched nerve or other underlying problem. If you are diabetic, lower back pain may indicate neuropathy.

Avoiding Lower Back Pain

By paying attention to proper back pain management techniques, most lower back pain can be avoided. Recurring lower back pain can usually be traced to poor posture. You can work on correcting this. Try exercises to build up strength in your lower back, stand up straight, and don't forget to use your legs to lift objects instead of your back. Make sure to follow proper ergonomic procedures during your workday. This will greatly impact your ability to prevent lower back pain.

Colored Contact Lenses: Revitalize Your Look Easily

Colored contact lenses are a great way to sharpen and enhance the look of your eyes.  Unlike traditional contacts, colored lenses are a great way to show off your contacts, with colors that are completely fun.  Wearing color contacts are all about having some fun every once in a while.

All around the world, thousands and thousands of people wear colored lenses.  Contact lenses themselves are the best alternative to glasses, with prescription color contacts being the next best thing.  Colors add flair and personality to contact lenses, giving people the chance to be different.  When you add color to your lenses - you are telling the world that you are different.

You can always find colored lenses that match what you are looking for no matter what color interests you.  There are hundreds of different styles available, from kids to adults.  You’ll also have several different manufacturers to choose from as well, which makes it easier than ever to get a pair of colored lenses that you can depend on.

Even though colored lenses are popular, there are several people who feel as if they will damage the eyes.  Colored lenses work exactly the same as traditional contacts, and won’t damage your eyes as long as you clean them and take care of them.  If you clean them like you should and soak them in solution for a few hours when you take them out, you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

Each and every colored contact has the color or design coded on the contact itself.  When you wear a pair of these lenses, it is actually the color that has been coded into the contact that projects the colored image everyone sees when they look in your eyes.  The color of the contact shines through, making it appear that your eyes are indeed the exact same color as your contacts.

Colored contacts work the same as other types of contacts.  You simply use your prescription for contacts and select the color you want.  If you are ordering them online, you’ll find hundreds and hundreds of different colors and images.  There are more colors and selections available online - making it the best way to invest in your contact lenses.

If you’ve been thinking about adding some flair to your colored non prescription contacts, you should look into getting a pair of "cat looking" lenses.  They will give you the vision you need, along with different colored “eyes” that can really mess with someone’s head.  Kids love them as well, as they give them the chance to express themselves.  From kids to adults - colored contact lenses are the ideal way to be different - and improve your vision at the same time.

Dental and Vision Insurance

For most of us who work and get medical benefits through our employer, once a year we are asked to select an insurance plans as part of our health benefits. Every year we are also given a choice to add coverage for dental and vision insurance.

Some employers may not provide the coverage for both dental and vision coverage but in some cases they may cover up to a certain amounts or some basic services. For example federal employees have their own federal employees dental and vision insurance program.

Normally since we go along with the company's group insurance provider we may be able to get a discount rate for vision and dental plans.

It is highly recommended for you to scrutinize the dental and vision plans offered in order to see what are the services covered and you can do the cost benefit analysis. That is comparing the services offered to the monthly premium amounts that you have to pay.

Most of the time you will come out as a winner, since dental and vision package can save you a lot of money in the long run. Most of the major provider make this plan available at a reasonable rate. Some of the plan are tied to your health insurance but some are available independently.

At the same time you may also realize that your vision or dental check up are long overdue and it is about time to visit the dentist or eye doctor.

Most of the adults do not visit eye doctor or dental office on a regular basis. Many of us will visit the dentist and the eye doctor only when we have problems and absolutely have no other choice.

It is very important for the adults to get regular dental and vision care especially as we get older. Of course with the coverage of dental and vision plan, that would take care of the expenses for the services provided.

The cost for dental and vision insurance is relatively cheaper than the regular medical or health insurance. For a simple reason since your visit to dentist or eye doctor are less frequent than your visit to family doctor.

On a final note, it is a very good deal to have both dental and vision insurance as a package plan. If you look at the long term the benefits, it is far outweight the monthly cost.

Dental and vision expenses are normally quite expensive. Without insurance coverage it is pretty painful to pay from your own pockets.

What Fast Weight Loss Options Are There?

For more info about easy ways to lose weight and an updated version of fast weight loss tips check out Health and Fitness Tips.

Many people need to lose some weight, that's a fact. Walk around where people gather, you'll notice the fat. Look in the mirror, unfortunately you'll likely see it there too. If you've made fast weight loss your goal, keep a few simple things in mind to lose the pounds quickly and safely.

When people want to lose weight one of the most common things they do is to skip meals. Hey, if eating fewer calories is the goal then why not skip breakfast or lunch. Fewer calories means losing weight, right? That's right but skipping meals isn't the right way to reduce calories. Your body thinks it's being starved when you skip meals. It goes into “starvation” mode. It starts to retain fat to counteract what it perceives as a shortage of food. Another problem with skipping meals is that when you finally eat you'll be a lot more hungry. The result is binge eating. Skipping meals is the worst of both worlds that results in gaining even more weight. Don't do it.

Have a plan on how much to eat. Portion control is just as important as eating the right food. Too much of even a healthy food still results in weight gain. Portion control isn't easy when large portions are so common. Restaurants and even most people in home cooking serve portions far larger than needed. The FDA and other sources list recommended daily allowances. If you must eat out, keep portion size in mind. You'll likely have to cut down on what a restaurant serves.

Replace white foods such as white bread, white rice and sugar with whole grain foods. Whole grains are lower in fat and higher in nutrients. The fiber in whole grains will make you feel fuller faster and longer. Also whole grains contain many nutrients that are often lacking in people's diets.

Consume more water. Replace juice and soda with water since that juice and soda adds 90,000 calories to an average person's diet every year. Drink water between meals too. In fact, the goal is 8 glasses of water each day. It's easily possible. Drinking water will also promote health in general by keeping you well hydrated and cool.

Eat healthy snacks between meals. The body needs food every three to four hours to maintain proper blood sugar. Healthy snacks also help control eating at meal times.

With some knowledge and planning, fast weight loss is easily possible. It won't be long before you're slimmer and trimmer.

Ways to Drop Weight by Walking

Go to Health and Fitness Tips to read a free fat burning workout video and more tips about fast weight loss tips.

Burn more calories than you consume to lose weight. Once the diet part is planned, get to walking. This means 30 minutes a day seven days a week of aerobic work. It can be running on a treadmill, swimming, or simply walking to lose weight. Walking is a low impact way to fulfill the exercise goal. With a few tips in mind it can be even better.

Forget exercising only three or five days a week, aerobic exercise is something you need to do every day forever.

Once the walking is established do some other activities to increase your physical output. This can include simple things like raking leaves instead of blowing them, crazy things like playing tag with your children, as well as other every day habits such as parking in the furthest space from the store rather than the closest.

After getting accustomed to walking that 30 minutes every day, make some adjustments by adding intervals. Intervals are short bursts of increased activity sprinkled into a normal routine. Start out by running for 30 seconds every 10 minutes of the walk. Gradually up this to a one minute run every five minutes, which would work like this. You walk for the first four minutes, then run for the fifth, then walk the next four minutes, run the next minute, and so on for the entire 30 minutes. Keep in mind that a run is not a jog, it's faster, it's a sprint. So if you have to work up to run with jog at first.

Make walking a whole family activity. Walk the kids to school instead of driving them. Walk to the store. Get out and see the sights. And no, don't stop walking just because of some rain. Wear a rain coat and some galoshes.

Critical Illness Insurance Should Be a Priority

Critical Illness Insurance

We are surrounded by insurance policies for this and that and most of the time we never use them but critical illness insurance will protect you from financial problems if you are in a situation where you will never work or live a normal life again. Although we are happy to sit with our cup of coffee and a pastry costing each day and somehow rationalize that it is a necessity, but not spend the few dollars a week it would cost for critical illness insurance to protect our finances and our loved ones health, should we ever need to.

As the majority of critical illness insurance products now cover common illnesses and given the statistical probability that you will be critically ill at some point, it is a good thing to have. Speaking of statistics, recently they have revealed that at least twenty percent of men will suffer from a critical illness before they retire. For women, this figure is slightly lower with only one in six being affected by a critical illness before retirement.

Lack of knowledge or belief in the chances of contracting a critical illness might be the main reason why so few adults take out critical illness insurance protection, according to insurance companies. Protection of mortgage payments is listed as the number one reason why people decide to have critical illness insurance cover. To enable continued payment of a mortgage, most mortgages can be set up to include protection policies that include critical illness insurance in addition to life cover.

More and more people are starting to use the facilities provided by the internet to research and purchase insurance policies, including critical illness insurance. Unfortunately, being a relatively new facility, there are new problems that occur as more companies start offering services over the Internet for the first time. The reason for this lies in the fact that most critical illness insurance providers request their applicants undergo an independent medical examination prior to the policy being issued in an effort to stop any possible fraudulent claims in the future. Strangely, although this sounds as if it is to the benefit of the insurance company, it also benefits the claimant as they will not want to have problems if they make a claim on their critical illness insurance policy at some stage.

Smokers, unfortunately, are treated as higher risk critical illness insurance applicants, including anyone who has smoked within the previous year and as a consequence are placed in a high risk category. This is understandable as statistics show you are at a greater risk of smoking related conditions and so your insurance premium must increase in line with this potential risk. For the most part though, when you apply for critical illness insurance, the company will factor in your age, health, workplace, environment, activities and so forth. If you are laid off from work because of your condition or require specialist surgery, your critical illness insurance should cover the expenses incurred. There can be no argument about the peace of mind that having a critical illness insurance policy in place can bring to someone who has a family and financial responsibilities.

Increase In Home Gyms Equipment

Home Gyms Equipment

There has been a large increase in the home gyms equipment sector in recent years. Unfortunately many would be fitness enthusiasts make the mistake of buying the wrong type of equipment because they haven't thought about what they require; there is an enormous range and the last thing you want is to buy the wrong piece.

Be careful when you see commercials advertising fitness apparatus as it will always be shown in the best possible light. Sit down and think about what it is you are hoping to achieve before you take out your credit card.

It is always better to buy a piece of home gyms equipment that you know you will use; you will need to assess what it is you want to get out of the equipment. If it is your first time buying a piece of equipment like this it would be best if you found somewhere local, at your gym perhaps, where it would be possible to try it out first hand; always start by buying small pieces of equipment that match your interests.

Make sure you can afford it and don't be fooled into the thought that you will definitely use something because you spent a great deal of money on it; the cost is not the reason it will be used, whatever you may think. Whatever budget you set yourself to spend on it, just make sure it will be up to the job you want it to do because although cost may be an issue, quality is also important.

Setting a budget is one thing but it has to be a piece of apparatus that you will use and won't break at the slightest use; this is why quality should not come second to the price. The first place you may want to try to pick up a bargain is in the local classified adverts and pick up some nearly new equipment at a low price.

You can even find home gyms equipment that has been hardly used at very low prices, even ex-demonstration equipment that is not very old but the price is almost half the original. A small detail which should not be overlooked is the location of the apparatus which should have permanent home once it is set up.

Of course this is not really a problem if you have already decided that you are kitting your garage out as a home gymnasium. If you have any concerns about your fitness to use the equipment, have a physical examination carried out to ensure there will not be any problems.

Always try before you buy as unless you have used it before you may find you have a problem using it and it causes discomfort. One way to get around this is to join a fitness centre and get used to using certain pieces of apparatus first; this should give you a good idea if it will be more cost effective to buy your own home gyms equipment. If you really can't make up your mind, take advice from a fitness instructor who will better equipped to deal with this type of enquiry.

Individual Disability Insurance

We would all like to know exactly what was going to happen to us in the future, good or bad although it is hard planning for the good it is much easier, although less pleasurable to make arrangements for the bad but individual disability insurance can help. With the stress and frustration caused by a temporary or permanent disability, individual disability insurance can help you not only weather the financial difficulties you may encounter during your incapacitation but also to take some of the emotional strain away the financial difficulties it is certain to create. In fact there is a higher probability of a person requiring some form of individual disability insurance before they retire than the likelihood of dying. However more people buy life insurance long before considering the advantages of disability coverage. If you are aged 40 for example, there is a higher chance that you will be disabled, and thus unable to work for a period of 90 days or more, than of you dying before the age of 65.

Of course, when someone is seeking individual disability insurance cover, it is imperative to find the best individual disability insurance rates and plans available. Unlike life cover, individual disability insurance rates are based on the potential income lost as well as, age, occupation and general health. Many people find that they can reduce their monthly individual disability insurance premiums buy delaying when the first payment would be made to them if they were to make a claim on their individual disability insurance plan. Another option to lower the monthly premiums is put a limit on how long the payments are to be made before they stop although if you your period of incapacitation lasts longer than this, it will mean that you will have to find an alternative source of income.

Insurance company policies will differ but the majority will only pay a percentage of your lost income so it is a good idea to choose the best one for you and in this instance, the cheapest individual disability insurance may not necessarily be the best. Short term individual disability insurance income covers the first few months you are disabled and the benefits of short-term disability income insurance are many. Whereas if someone wants to claim total disability and be completely covered financially, then they will have to prove that they are unable to perform the majority of the tasks that they used to. Irrespective of the type of policy you have, payments for disability are made regularly, every week or month until the end of the incapacitation or the policy, whichever come first.

There are many issues to consider when exploring individual disability insurance which may affect the premiums and they include, in no particular order; your current occupation, whether the income is taxable, how long the benefits will be paid for and if there are any medical restrictions. Remember that every individual disability insurance policy is different and they will not all provide exactly the same benefits, including how much they will pay as a percentage of your income. The percentages vary and individual disability insurance payouts can be anywhere from 40% to 70%, so don't neglect this important detail. It is the number one factor that will define what your income will be in case you become disabled.
